What a year it’s been! Definitely, one that none of us could have ever imagined, and we never would have thought it would go on for this long! It’s been really hard for everyone and for those that are in the entertainment business, their work was pretty much put completely on hold for a long time… It not as if they can work from home after all! I don’t know about you, but I’m really missing the cinema, thank god for Netflix, sky movies, and Disney+, right? And if you do not have these apps and wish to, why not check which broadband is offering them for free or at a discounted price as some broadband deals include free gifts or exclusive offers these days. So, without further ado let’s have a look at the best UK-produced films releasing this year!
Nomadland is coming out on the 17th May 2021, so be prepared to go on a journey of emotions. This film provides authenticity by actually using true events, making it feel as though you really are there, feeling all the emotions that Fern (the main character) is feeling after having her life snatched away from her by grief after her husband died and spends her days traveling, houseless and living in a jeep.
Peter Rabbit 2
A Beatrix Potter classic + James Cordon’s humor, what’s not to like about this film? It’s such a feel-good family movie that everyone of all ages can sit back and enjoy with a big bag of popcorn. Peter Rabbit 2 is due to be coming out on the 21st May 2021, so if you haven’t watched the first one, go give it a watch! I wonder what mischief Peter Rabbit will be up to this time?!
We spent our whole childhood hating the ‘bad guys’ but does anyone else kinda love that villain vibe now?! There’s just something about the villains in films that I love, we want to know their back story and what made them do the mean things they do! A great example of a villain who yes, is very hard to like, is Cruella Deville from 101 Dalmatians; but something about her is so enticing and sassy. The new movie ‘Cruella’, who will be played by Emma Stone, will be coming to your screens on 28th May 2021. I think it’ll be WICKED.
The Conjuring 3
Don’t panic horror fans! We won’t force you to sit and watch kids’ movies- here’s one for you. On the 28th May 2021, a new Conjuring is coming out, with the title ‘The Devil Made Me Do It’… exposing you to a chilling story of terror, murder, and unknown evil, like never before.
The Beatles: Get Back
Any fans of the Beatles? If not, this one is probably for your parents. This summer (26th August 2021) there is an upcoming documentary film being released that covers the making of the Beatles’ 1970 album Let It Be, which had the working title of ‘Get Back.’
No Time to Die
If you’re a bit more of the action kind, then maybe a new James Bond movie would be more up your street? If so then you’re going to love the new spy movie coming out on 30th September 2021 ‘No Time to Die’, staring, of course, the action man himself, Daniel Craig. Craig has actually announced that this is going to be his final James Bond film, so this is not one to miss out on!
A Boy Called Christmas
To anyone that cares… it’s officially 268 days until Christmas from the day that I’m writing this!! And what is Christmas without a Christmas movie? However, we’ve all watched Elf, Home Alone, A Christmas Carol so many times that we could literally recite every line, right? So, here’s something new! A final date has not been confirmed yet, but at some point, in November ‘A Boy Called Christmas’ will be blessing our screens with a British Christmas fantasy film directed based on a 2015 children’s book; a story of Nikolas, a boy who sets off into the snowy white north in search of his father. Yes, it will be November, a bit early for Christmas, but what better to spread some Christmas spirit than a movie?! Let’s face it, we never actually experience the snow we see in movies, but we can all dream.
While we can not be 100% sure of how life will be for the rest of this year, things are looking positive and for us movie lovers, news of new films is always something to be excited about! So keep your eyes peeled for any adverts or trailers of the films mentioned above, as release dates are often subject to change and we don’t want to be missing out!
